We'll see your pie and raise you some cinnamon rolls

Mom and I are still working on the Thanksgiving baking at 11 pm Wednesday night. If you're especially observant, you'll notice that the cinnamon rolls (one pan of three) in the picture are still rising. Clockwise from the cinnamon rolls you will see double ginger cookies, pumpkin pie, a representative loaf of bread (there are 7 more), and apple pie; the centerpiece of this display is brown sugar pie. For those who didn't get to make this in the McClain household as 6-year-olds, this is the leftover bits of pie crust rolled out and smeared with butter, brown sugar and cinnamon. Yummy! We already ate about half of it. After a restorative cup of tea we are also planning to make pumpkin butter.

The rest of our menu isn't quite as elaborate as Drew and Jess, but it is more traditional. Like Drew and Jess, we will be serving that perennial favorite, corn casserole. Also planning turkey, filling (that would probably be stuffing or dressing to you honorary McClains), mashed potatoes, and peas. You know Mom has to have her peas! And yes, after dinner we will all collapse into a carbohydrate-induced coma.

Happy Thanksgiving!
